Jig table with Bristol fuselage side frame laid out

This picture shows one side frame cut out and fitted together on the layout table. This is the last of six sides (2 each for three airframes), and you can also see two of the steel fittings which will hold the wood pieces together. One such fitting is bolted to each place where the wood struts meet, and then a wire truss is strung between the fittings to hold everything together. This somewhat complicated fitting is used where several wood components meet; simpler fittings are used where only a single vertical strut meets a longeron. There's no glue involved, just bolts and tensioned wire to hold everything together!
